I launched a new podcast

New podcast with my co-host Anmol Maini

Hello hello! What’s up?

This is a letter, a personal letter, from me to you. I hope to send it to you every week. If you find it boring, or want to holler at me, just reply to this.

In January I recorded a new podcast, and finally uploaded the first episode two days ago.

It’s only on YouTube right now, as we are total noobs when it comes to podcasting.

As of now, the first episode got 753 views, and resulted in 71 subscribers.

I suspect most of them would be our friends, because 81% of the views came from outside of YouTube!

I thought I’ll share some of the numbers behind this episode.

We booked a recording studio at The Hub, Safina Plaza in Bangalore on 17th of January 2025.

We paid about 16K + GST which would be 18,880. We used a three camera setup, and each camera added 4K + GST to costs.

After that the audio required some work, and I had zero time or skills to edit the raw footage, so we hired an editor as well.

Hiring an editor was in itself a huge task. I talked to about 8 editors, and they ranged from 1K to 50K for the edit.

We went with some one who took 10K + GST, which is 11,800.

Overall we spent 30,680 on production of the podcast.

Definitely not something that is sustainable, so the second podcast is not in person but recorded online. 😁

It kinda looks like this:

Thankfully I was able to edit the second podcast by myself with Davinci Resolve and Multi Cam editing.

The second episode is ready to go live and we’re recording the third one this weekend!

One thing I didn’t realize is how much we have the potential to just yap.

We had booked the place for 1 hour, but we still couldn’t go through all the stuff we wanted to go through.

These were my notes before recording!

Fun fact, our booking was from 6pm to 7pm, and Anmol got stuck in traffic!

I had to plead the team at studio to let us change our timings from 6 to 6.30, otherwise we could only record for 30 minutes!

Apparently this set was created by Varun Mayya for a podcast series of his.

If you’re on this email list, and like to receive updates from me, would love for you to subscribe on youtube!

P.S. If you’d like me to be able to do experiments like above and share learnings, hire me and my team to help you run your business better. 😬
